hard time removing timing chain cam gear sprocket

I am trying to remove the timing chain cam gear sprocket and it won't clear the cam pin. I included a picture of the sprocket and how far I can get it past the cam pin. There is about 1/8" or more needed to remove the timing chain sprocket from the cam pin. Maybe I am missing something or there is a trick. I tried searching for an answer: shbox, haynes and the service manual make it seem that it just comes out easy. I don't want to f it up.

What should I do?
Does anybody have the specification of how far past the timing sprocket the cam pin should be? This is an aftermarket cam of which I have no Idea what is installed.

1994 Firebird Trans AM GT 25th Anniversary.

Looks like it was way longer than that and someone cut it off. With the bolts out, pull the gear outward and spin the cam gear on the pin and you should have plenty of slack in the chain to remove it. For a spline drive opti, the pin just needs to protrude slightly from the gear. So, if you have to, you can cut some off. A pin drive opti needs a longer pin.
