Got a problem with a Z28 at a friends speed shop. Need your opions

They put on a set of long tube headers and then took it for a drive. Any thing below 3,00rpm's and the car misses really bad, but once you go above 3,000rpm's it runs nice a smooth. They replaced the plug wires and still does the same thing. Then they called me to see what I thought it might be?? I took the car out. Misses like crazy below 3000, but just past that and the car pulles strong. I'm thinking opti here. Mine did the same thing, but on the top end. What do you guy's think. we put my Mass air meter and coil on the car and it still did the same thing.

My vote is for the opti.

It could possibly be the EGR valve. If i'm not mistaken, the EGR is not used at RPMs above 2800. Just a thought.

Longtubes with emissions? They don't mix... I mean mine don't have emission hookups on them (Dynatech). My vote is for checking those plugs. Make sure the wires aren't too close to the headers.

Man 1 more day and I'll be on a weeks vacation...too bad my car just got painted and it still needs wetsanded!

My car did the same thing and it ended up being the 02 sensors. You might need to replace them with sims.

i really dont think its the opti here at all. Cracked Plug seems logical, as does burnt wires and O2's. Id check those 3.. very easy to replace, so its not a huge deal

Trey, they put new wires on, and still the same thing. I'll tell them to check the plugs,egr,o2's. It's amazing what can happen when doing a simple header job. I've done it about ten times and never had a problem. I guess they should have had me do it.

Just checked in with them. Plugs are brand new and is still doing it.?????

doesn't matter how new they are if they are grounding on the headers
