Hello,

I'm thinking about buying a Camaro. I'm looking to spend less than 7,000.
There is a 95 Z28 TTops in the paper right now for 6,500.

Is there any particular year I should look for, or avoid?

If anyone has a url of a site with pictures to compare the different years or models, that would help.

Any advice would be Great!

93 is generally to be avoided for three reasons

1) It had a Speed-Density system rather and a MAF. Its much less accurate than the MAF systems and harder to tune since is uses an E-PROM computer

2) It has an unvented Opti-spark. These units are generally not very dependable. In '95 GM went to a vented unit which is more durable

3) The T56 manual transmission that year is not as strong as other years.

Its generally agreed that '95 is the best year because it has all the updates (except the dash) but does not have OBDII

 

95 Is arguably the best year. I'm sure you can do a search to find out why otherwise I can inlighten you.

 

I would have to agree that 95 would be the best year. I like the gauges and dash better than the newer ones. The best is the ODB1. 93 is the year to avoid. They don't have the MAF, vented opti(neither does 94), and I'm pretty sure that something about the exhaust manifolds are diff(not as good). Along with those reasons, and the fact that I own one is the reasons to get a 95!

 

I have also heard from many that 95 is the best year to get a LT1. They have a slightly larger camshaft stock, and come with pretty much the best of both worlds. I got mine based on the fact that I wanted a white 6spd with cloth and t-tops, the fact that it was a 95 was just a bonus. Good luck getting it.

convertibles do seem to go for a bit more from what I have seen.....for the same car your talkign about I would say no more than a grand more.....but i'm no expert jsut going from my observations!!

 

I think that if your looking to mod your car and take it to the track that you shouldn't be looking at a conv. They are heaiver, twist more and it's just one more thing to have break. Other then that their great
