got a error code 048, whats up?

I took my car to the dealer last week to get my problem diagnosed. They told me it was the optispark, but my car threw code # 048. they told me it was a maf code? Anyone know what I should do? Replace opti, or what? Anything would help thanks

DTC 48 is MAF sensor circuit. You need to check whether the problem is the MAF sensor itself, or the wiring. It is sort of common to have a problem with the pink wire that supplies +12V to the sensor. I would check that wire first to make sure its got +12V at the connector. If not, you need to check the fuse and the wire. The wires seem to break in a hidden location and sometimes need to be replaced.

If the pink wire and the ground are good on the harness connector, and you don't have any bent pins on the connector, borrow a sensor from someone and see if it solves the problem.

No need to replace the Opti for a MAF code.....

By the way, was this a "stored" code or an "active" code? If it was "stored", did you disconnect the MAF sensor at any time recently?
