crane 210/224 114 or a comp 258hr-12 or a lingenfelter 74211, so which one????

ok then,

305 is out of the picture, just want the best cam I can put in this 383 with no lope to it or very little and a good idle.

Something aint right with your tune..I have a much bigger cam in my 383 and it idles just fine and no surge at all..Sounds like you have too much timing at idle and too much timing at cruising speeds.

I wanted the exact same thing as you..wanted it to drive like a stock car but I DID want that extra hp/trq when I wanted it while still maintaining great driveability/good gas mileage.

A vacuum guage shows that it is late on timing and..

I have changed to a double roller timing chain but still shows late on timing, I had pinging problems too, but the new chain helped on that.
