for your block
call victory racing engines (or go to their website)
victoryracingengines.com
i would look into a 355since it cheaper, 2700ish for a budget shortblock i believe
send ur heads to lloyd elliot for LE1
for all of that, u would have the price they want for just their shortblock
then if u do install/pull it urself, it should be 2-500 to get the longblock assembled.

Or, talk to victoryracingengines, i believe i hear eric talking about working with a company for ported heads, so u could get a longblock through them that way and then sell ur block (200ish probably) and heads (2-300 probably)

I just went thru this. Still breaking in the rebuild. I spent $2200. Sounds like the shop is trying to rape you man.
The price range for dropping a brand new shortblock from Golen Engines is probably right around there, but definetely not a rebuild. Golen sells a new LT1 shortblock for 3k, add about a grand for labor(approx what I paid for labor), and thats 4 grand, not 6.
I had thought about a new shortblock but couldn't scrounge up the money so I went with the rebuild, and so far the car runs good, maybe even a little stronger than it did before although I really haven't gotten the chance to open it up yet.
So it depends on how much money your lookin to spend. But it shouldn't be in the 6k range IMO unless your maybe swappin the whole rotating assembly, even then thats a stretch from what I was looking at in your same situation.

That's why I said they probably just really don't want to do it. Also why they let it sit for so long. I would get it out of there asap.
