Is this a good price $$$$

I just got quoted 1725.00 shipped for a stroker kit. Do you guys think this is a good price, I was going to go with the compstar but it was around 2100.00 without shipping And I've not heard to many complaints about the Scat products I've researched this stuff to death I need to just buy a kit and stick with it .. But I would apperciate your input on this kit before I go whole hog thanks

This is what it included
Scat crank 3.750 4340 forged
Scat H-beam 6.00 rods
Mahle -5cc pistons
Classic plasma moly rings
Clevite 77H rod and main bearings
Already internally balanced

Why don't you look at this:

3k for a done 383 short block is a pretty good deal.

I wouldn't go with Scat just because it's the lowest end there is. I'm not saying they're bad, but I would be skeptical. The Mahle pistons are very good pistons for N/A motors. They are much much lighter than the SRP's I had before and they come coated.

If Scat is bottom line where does the Eagle stuff fall in? All I've heard about their products are complaints About stuff being out of spec right out of the box. I guess I'll just have to break out a little more and go for the compstar crank, and rods with the Mahle pistons.

Take Scat over Eagle any time. All those parts are what I am running except I reused the stock crank.

Adding machine work to the block, balancing, cost of assembly... You'll be right there. I worked in a machine shop for years, so I have some idea of what I'm talking about.

Anything you get free is usually worth exactly what you paid for it.

Good luck with your build.

Not the best deal around, but it's inline with what you'll find most everywhere. Why not look around the boards here and buy used? As far as Scat/Eagle being bottom of the barrel, I think that is a little harsh. They make a good product for a good price. Quality isn't great or on par with high dollar stuff like Callies or anything, but they work just fine.

Thumbs up

Whyrun, where did you get this quote from? Can you post a link to it? I'm looking for a 396 stroker kit and this is definately "in the ballpark" pricewise, with what I've found to date.
