Well, went to the dealer and they say it's the opti again, I'm thinking great cause it's still under warranty. It didi'nt take long for my great to change to SH*T!!!!!!Last time all they changed was the cap and rotor, not the whole opti!!! So now to purchase the bck of it, it comes with the cap and rotor so they want anopther chunk of money to change it!!!!!!!!

Wow, that's a bummer...was it a GM dealer? I didn't realize they would/could even change just the cap/rotor. Be sure to check your receipt to verify. Good luck!

I can say with confidence, I have one of (there are higher), the highest mileage 94 Z28s out there.

270,000 kms.

Still on original fuel and water pump.

I track the car, I drag the car, I have fun on the street with the car.

I rebuilt the motor, because of a spun rod bolt (long story, not an LT1 issue).

2 year old opti, non-vented. MSD over the valve cover wires, TR6 plugs. The car has left me stranded, ONCE because that was my fault. I took a garden hose to the opti (I was such a noob then). My started died at 160,000 kms, and I push started it.

Also, the clutch went, because a sh!tty pilot BUSHING was used from a jobber.

Do regular oil changes, keep up on your coolant changes, put a new rad cap on every 100,000 kms...

... also, learn about the engine. You cannot expect it to run perfect, if you're not taking it to somebody who knows the electronics and quirks about the car.

I'm with you. I seriously wish I never would have bought my car. It is the worst choice I have ever made. I just put a new engine in, then it overheats all the time, and now the starter dies a week later.
Again, its not the engine. you just need to find out what u skrewed up. The LT1 doesn't have an overheating flaw in the design

As far as the original poster-
you engine builder sucks if you oil pressure keeps going all over the place at idle. again, 99.999% of people dont have this problem. you get your motor rebuilt then blame it on the design of the motor as to why its not running right?

If its static under load and idle your pickup fell off, your low on oil and/or too much clearance b/t the bearings.

actually, I'm not blamming the Lt1 for the troubles, if you read my post correctly you'll find that I blamme garagist who don't know hot to work on the LT1 bc not every garagist gets to work on them on a regular bassis, thus my request for finding help on how to determine if a garagist knows what he's talking about.
