Going to burn my LT1, who's with me??

No but seriously, thiss car is driving me broke!!! I'm in a tad over 4 grand in engine repairs in less than a year and still have problems. My engine was rebuilt a month ago bc of a bad knock in the crank, in March I had opti, wires, plugs, ICM ignition coil replaced. Guess what, I'm still having problems!!! The engine ran perfectly fine for a month after the rebuilt and now is running weird. When I've been driving for about an hour, on iddle the engine bounces around (500rpm up to 2,000rpm), and then has no power to accelerate until higher in the rpm range (3-5k rpm) it feels like it's about to choke. Any ideas on what the problem is or how to select a good mechanic who knows what he's talking about when working on a LT1???

disconnnect the O2's and see if that helps

If the o2 is the cause, would'nt disconnecting it give the same problem if already ai'nt working?

The best Idea would be to have it scanned with TTS or a program like that and go from there.

Also you may need to Check out your IAC.

I'm with you. I seriously wish I never would have bought my car. It is the worst choice I have ever made. I just put a new engine in, then it overheats all the time, and now the starter dies a week later.

if the o2's are the prob and you disconnect them the car will go into startup mode and not run off the O2's but more of a dummy program in the startup table. At least from my limited knowledge of this stuff

could be MAF but dunno about that, disconnect it and if thta helps then u kno thats it, you need to have ur coil checked and ur opti tho, i know that you said they are new but it doesnt mean a darn thing... i had a new opti put in and less than 2k later it was toast again... as for coil.. i put a new coil in b4 and it worked for about 2 months then went bad that fast and my mechanic told me that it happens fairly often hope some of that helps

tnx for the info, the opti should still be under warranty if I ake it in to be checked, I'll have a look into that.

Don't rule out the easy one...plug wires, not uncommon especially after a rebuild if they didn't get everything back in the right place.

What did you change with the new engine? Did you re-program the pcm???
