thanks Brett, I just got off the phone with Crane and all the guy could tell me was, "you shouldn't do 1.6's... they won't be good for your setup, I don't have springs that will work good that will fit in the stock valvespring pocket"

so either A. I think I'll just do 1.5's (I don't want to waste the money on rockers to just have to replace them later)

or B. get the K800's and go with what these other guys are doing.

altjar, what lifters are you running? I think I decided to just get the comp R's but if I don't have to then I'll save the $$$.

Sheesh he told you that ? I guess it depends on the tech you speak with, some seemed more knowledable than others to me when speaking with both Comp & Crane, but that's everywhere these days. I'd definitely say 1.6's would be more than conservative with this cam, but 1.5s will still shine with the 847 just fine. The Comp R's are nice lifters, I didn't notice a difference in sound with them but it was more of an insurance (state of mind) at higher rpms for me. Either way you go your setup will be awesome when your done .

so you are running this spring kit with 1.7's? will it still work alright on 1.6's? or is it to much of a spring? and will it fit in the stock pocket?

BTW is your Z white, used to have a cc306 in dallas?

Yes I'm running this spring kit which was recommended for the 1.6s. I inquired about the springs holding up to the 1.7s which Crane recommended the same springs for either 1.6/1.7. I have a black Z28 in Clear Lake, TX by NASA.

Im on the stock lifters. Holding up pretty well. One of them has gotten a slight tick after i over revved once. Nothing very noticable unless you are listening to it.

I'm pricing out this setup and I'm stuck on what pushrod to get. I'd want to go with something that will hold up to a 383 in the future so I'm thinking CMoly. I currently have Comp 1.6 RR Gold's and hardened pushrods, Comp "R" lifters, and the lt4 cam and springs.

I'm going with the GM847 cam, my 1.6 RRs, "R" lifters, PRod guideplates, Crane 99893 springs, and CMoly pushrods. How long should they be? Stock length? I'm looking at Jeg's site and they have so many variations that I'm not too sure which one to choose. Also, on the K-Motion Ti retainers, can those be used in conjunction with Crane's springs and a 10 degree lock?

thanx

you guys are talking about using 1.26 OD springs with these big cams?....why not have the seat machined for 1.46 springs and not worry about excessive guide wear from the spring movin back and forth

IMO ANY cam that would run over .525 i would install 1.46 spriings
