Glove compartment is broken....

I did now know where I should post this, but the other day my cousin ripped open my glove compartment and broke the part that holds the door shut. It is the part that is inside the compartment under the dash. Will I have to replace the whole dash to fix this. My glove compartment has to stay open all the time now and it looks tacky.

Thanks.

Which part broke?
The metal, squarish ring that the lock secures to or the lock itself?

Mine's messed up too. Wont close normally now but i slammed it shut and never opened it since and that was 2 months ago. Looks like the metal bar the lock holds onto is the problem and i want to know how to fix that as well.

Do you have any pics of where you screwed it shut. If it does not look that bad I may end up doing that.

Thanks.

If it is the striker that is attached to the dash, why not just replace it? It is held on by 2 screws.
