girdle

is anyone using any main stud girdles on their rebuilds?
was their alot of altering involved?

im building a 383 lt1 converted to a 4bolt main, seems the girdle is going to require alot more altering than norm...

can i get away still with a stock oil pan?

Re: girdle

No, we have real blocks so we can put 4 bolt main caps on them.

Re: girdle

the Lt1 im building has been converted to 4bolt.

ive just read around as much as i could on these threads and havent
noticed any mentions of main girdles on lt1s?

are they just not used period.
or is it just overkill but cant hurt, but still why bother?

With a splayed cap 4 bolt bottom end with steel caps why would you need a thing like that? Or are you asking about a stock style 4 bolt that you want to reinforce? You might want to ask at a Vette forum since most of us here started out with 2 bolt blocks. I know a few guys bought 4 bolt blocks for their rebuild, but haven't heard of a girdle being used. I have heard of other makes using them more often.

Re: girdle

What rpm range are you looking at? The last thing I would skimp on is the oil pan. Use an aftermarket. Get more oil capacity.

If you are runnung enough rpm to require a girdle why in the world would you not increase your oil capacity.

Are you using any type of restrictors in the top end?

Re: girdle

no restrictors.

the Lt1 is a converted 4bolt, billet steel caps.
but they are not splayed.
will the 4bolt still be sufficient, i.

about the girdle, i already have it but is it worth
the grind and mount, grind and mount process.

Re: girdle

Splayed caps aren't necessary. Straight 4 bolt mains are more than enough for most people. And, return the stud girdle.

Re: girdle

Is it also worth the custom pan to get it to clear?
