gen I and gen II conversions?
This is an important area so go for the best quality work.
It works either way... the Gen II (LT1) head/block coolant passages are not the same as the Gen I head/block coolant passages. You have to alter LT1 heads to put them on a Gen I block, or alter Gen I heads to put them on an LT1 block.
Maybe he wants a LT1 big block... even though he wouldn't have the benefit of reverse cooling therefore not able to hold the higher compressions that true LT1s do..
I do have my own question though..
Is it possible to convert a Gen I SBC block into a LT1 block?

Putting LT1 heads on a Gen 1 block does not = "a LT1 big block" by any stretch of the imagination.
You can't convert a Gen I SBC into an LT1 block. The entire front of the block, including the provision for the water pump and the Opti are totally different than the earlier design.

not sure where lt1 big block came from??? injuneer is right. I just think that lt1 heads are great. they're cheap, flow great and aluminum. if I could find some aluminum l98 heads I would use those but people are wanting aftermarket head prices for them.
