I know you have to rehone so the rings can wear in again, but is it ok to just rehone the .030 bore?
The pistons MAY be a few(1-2) thou loose but it probably won't hurt(racing clearance) Ask your shop if they can hone it to the right Ra/Rz scale and how much too loose it would be(don't know the size now) and if that is too loose. In other words how much waveness and wear it has over the original size and what it will clean up at.
Most shops don't have the correct stones for the right finish, they would have to buy them.None of the good shops around here had them so I got my shop to purchase them and I got the procedure from Total Seal and it isn't an ordinary procedure the shop normally does, but not a big trick thing either, just different.

Ya will be fine. They are spraying 500+HP on gapless.
Make SURE ya got GOOD forged pistons.

Maybe I was just lucky but I did my own hone job here with a bottle brush, the rings seated fine. Talk to total seal they are very informative, just make sure you get a good tech.

gapless rings are great for any motor...problem being installation. they are more picky on ring set than a standard style rings. If installed and set properly, the rings will work great for you. as for me, i still use standard style chromoly rings since i've have good luck with longevity and strength.

We've ran gapless for years. C&A zgs, and have had no problems. We even freshened our motor with a hand drill and no problems. Here are some stats:
12.5:1, 355, 600" lift roller, PG 456 geared 12 bolt, 3100# car, 10.80's all day! Leak down rates are awesome with gapless.

Gapless 2nd from C&A are a lot different than gapless top from Total seal.
Re: are Gapless rings good or bad for street motor
One added benfit of gapless I have heard is added vacuum. My old LE2 setup pulled almost as much vacuum as stock and now I have a MONSTER (over 300 adv duration) cam in there and the brakes still work great! I've heard then 2nd gapless defeats the purpose of even having them b/c the blowby gets stuck between the top and 2nd gapless causing ring flutter. So I chose the top gapless. Like I said total seal was great I bought Cosworth pistons and sent them the pistons they clearanced them and made me a set of gapless for them, all within a week!
