Fuel Pump Installation problems...

Okay ... so I'm going through the Top of the car... How do I get the pump out after removing the screws? Seems it needs to be on an angle... but it's not easy with the tank in there? ... How is it done???

Re: Fuel Pump Installation problems...

Just went through this myself. The hardest part for me was getting the one quick connect fuel line that is furthest from where I made my cut. Disconnect the lines first then the pump can be maneuvered out of the hole. The pump actually runs almost parallel with the top of the tank towards the back so tilt it very slightly up and towards the front of the car. Once you get to a certain point you'll have to work it around the sending unit and the float. Remember the orientation when you go to put it back in, it's more horizontal than I thought and if you try dropping it in vertically it will literally bottom out on the bottom of the tank and won't go in. I hope this makes some sense, I think it will once you've got the pump out. I really enjoyed gluing the bucket back together as well, my recommendation would be to have some clamps ready that will keep the bucket top on while the glue is drying. Good Luck, really isn't that bad, except for the damn quick connect that was a b**** for me to get to.

So what type of glue did you use for the bucket?

Thanks...

I used the Racetronix kit that comes with glue. It's appears to be similar to crazy glue, but is a thicker consistency. I'm pretty sure that Thunder Racing would sell you a tube seperately. Be careful taking the "top" off of the bucket as well, it's pretty easy to break. I used an exacto knife around the seam and slowly got it apart without it cracking or breaking.

Epoxy...

Not the stuff that's like glue... but the stuff used in autobody work to permantly lock hood scoops and spoilers Down for life... It's a two stage mix... and becomes a perminant fix to what ever surface you put it on.
