fuel pump discussion (standard 255 vs. racetronix 255)

I'm trying to fuel 550-600 rw and I believe with a Boost-A-Pump I can succeed using the Racetronix single 255 lph setup. However, can it be done with just 255 pump and NO racetronix wiring harness? Only reason I ask is because I already own a walbro 255 pump. I mean, if the BaP is going to be supplying up to 17 volts to the pump, do I really need the Racetronix hardware to go along with the pump? (Jack, it would be nice to have your opinion here.)

Also, would it be worth it for ease of installation to just sell the 255 pump and buy the racetronix setup? I've heard of some installation problems when just buying the pump... Can't recall exactly what they were though. Anyone care to say if they had problems adapting their 255 to the stock setup?

The Racetronix fuel pump w/ fuel bucket vs. without the fuel bucket has been covered many times before on this forum.

The Racetronix harness allows you to add the B-A-P as a plug & play option without cutting into the factory wiring. The harness will also provide dedicated power for the B-A-P + fuel pump without further overburdening the thin factory harness and fuse.

The Walbro GSS340 should not be run over 16V as it will start to cavitate.

If you are pumping $1000's of dollars into your drivetrain I fail to see what the real debate is about when it comes to spending the equivalent of a few tanks of gas to ensure your fuel system is bullet proof? Get the full kit with the B-A-P. This way you can sleep at night knowing you have enough fuel delivery to meet your demands.

because i've already got the pump itself... had it for a while.

guess I'll sell it and go with the Racetronix unit... or can I ship it to you and you can use it in my kit?

That's what I did . I lost about 15 bucks from what I paid on the other pump - no big deal.

The pump is machined to fit in the bucket...
