Question Fuel pump confusion

Ok the fuel pump is bad and time to replace. I searched the board and some shop sites and now confusion has set in. Walbro seems to make all the pumps in the world, but theirs require mods on some sites and none on others. Also racetronix are modified walbros (?) but cost twice as much not to have to modify them? I know I sound stupid, but please help me out cause I am no mechanic.

First of all what kind of car do you have and what year? Second how do you know your fuel pump is bad? Third walbro pumps are the badest pumps on the market. I bought one for my 95 Z and it is the shizzle.

oops yeah sorry I was posting to friends and forgot the particulars. 1996 z28 with 86K and I had my mechanic check the fuel system with a pressure reg and if he says it is done I believe him. It shot up at ignition and them drained almost immediately. He then closed the return and it drained again. He said it was probably the ----- had a funny name.

A Walbro GSS340M pump from most sources is about $120-129
A Walbro GSS340LT1 pump assembly w/hardware from Racetronix is $149.99 so how do you come up with it being twice the price?

If you are factoring in the PnP upgrade harness and body ground upgrade then it would be about $235.00 but that is not comparing apples to apples here.

To recap our post in the vendor's area:

255L/Hr @ 43.5PSI @ 13.5VDC Pumps alone:
Walbro GSS307M @ $99.99
Walbro 255L/Hr High Pressure Capable GSS340M @ $109.99

Racetronix GSS340LT1 fuel pump assembly is $149.99
Racetronix GSS307LT1 fuel pump assembly is $129.99

ON SALE:

LT1 Systems w/harness and body ground upgrade
- High Pressure @ MSRP $234.99
- Standard Pressure MSRP @ $219.99

Hi Jack thanks for the reply. I did not know you were a sponser. What I saw was I went to the Walbro site (I think or a main vendor) and they had a GM "universal" that sounded like it needed mods to fit my car for ~$100. Then I went to your site and saw $219 for the lower of the two versions to fit my car in a PnP advertised model. As I said, this is all new to me and I want to do this right. Your product gets the most raves so please tell me what I need to order that is a direct fit to the stocker so my mechanic will have the easiest time. Point me in the right direction and I will order today! Thanks.
