fuel pump change
fuel pump change
Would it be crazy to cut a hole through the inside of the car to access the top of the tank to change to pump. Then replace it with a alum plate sealed and screwed down. I could use a air power chizzle fork to pervent a cutting blade from catching on any fuel line. I am trying to avoid all of the pia work to drop the tank.
I wouldn't say it's easy, but it's not as hard as you imagine. It will be a full weekend project if you've never messed with the rear of the car, but if you take your time and have all the necessary tools it shouldn't be too hard. The hardest part about dropping the tank is angling the tank in a position that allows enough space for the pump to be squeezed out. Just take your time, get all your tools, and be very carefull. If you hit any snags, just let this board know and hopefully you'll get some tips.
I along with 1FASASZ hacked mine.. I should have done this the first time.. I even put a metal piece of stock and had it tack welded below where I cut.. It's probably stronger than before.. I can post pics later if you want...
