I got hit and then we fixed the car and went to start it and it won't start.......HELP ME ASAP

try this

Check this out, I know on most newer cars ther is a sensor/switch that if your car is in a collision that will shut off your fuel pump so it will not pump fuel out in the case of a ruptured line since the whole fuel system is pressurized. Check your owners manual for this switch, or ask a body shop, they will know. otherwise if the pump has been let run to dry it may have burned out since the fuel cools the pump, a pump isn't that expensive, but getting it in can be a PITA! I have had 2 put in my 94 Impala SS and it cost 3-400 dollars for parts and labor, so check for that accident operated switch first and then if it works, there you are, I checked Chiltons manual but nothing was in it about that, but who knows? I know ford has em, I would guess GM would too.

Re: Is it the fuel pump?

the car is a 94 and i have been over the wiring and everything and looked in all my books that i can find about an "inertia switch" and the car doesn't have one....i think its just an import and a ford thing. Also i work at the shop that fixed the car and did all the work myself and never noticed anything

Like mentioned, GM cars do not have an inertia switch. You can check for voltage at the harness for the pump above the rear differential, driver side. If you have voltage there, then the fault lies in the connection for the fuel pump itself inside the tank. Did you drop the fuel tank or use the 'through the hatch' method?

Re: Is it the fuel pump?

i started to drop the tank and got mad so i used the "trap door" method.....its going to turn out good when i get done finishing up the cover.....i checked and checked all the grounds after i put anew pump in and it still wouldn't prime......so finally i took the seat out and carpet back out and decided to pull the wiring out of the plastic loom stuff and someone had spliced in to it and the ground had just came out of hte butt connector........man was i mad! hooked it up, hit the ignition switch and the pump primed........now i just have to hook the fuel lines back up to the pump and i'm good to go thanks for all your guys help!
