fuel pressure regulator
fuel pressure regulator
i have heard that a fuel pressure regulator will increase horsepower on a LT1 and I was wondering how hard it is to put one on and were do I get one at.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: fuel pressure regulator
I not sure how the install goes because I have never install one. It will increase horsepower and throttle response assuming that you install a set of larger injectors. Then you will really notice the difference. You can ge fpr from Summit Racing or Jegs catalogs. FPR are available at others but those are two of the bigger vendors
Re: fuel pressure regulator
Whoaaa.....
The stock injectors and the stock fuel pressure is more than adequate for setups under 400HP. If you are running more than that, simply increase the injector size and have the injector constant and offsets in the PCM reprogrammed to match the injector you selected. If you are pushing the duty cycle on your current injectors, you could squeeze a little extra capacity by increasing the fuel pressure, but that's not necessarily the best way to go.
If you are talking about a relatively stock engine, you could theoretically improve power by reducing the fuel pressure and leaning out the overly rich power enrichment (PE) mode target A/F ratio. Problem is, for all 94 and newer PCM's, the PCM will see the reduced fuel flow at the O2 sensors and extend the long term fuel corrections to bring the fuel flow right back where it was before you started. The correct way to solve the overly rich A/F ratio programming is to have the PCM reprogrammed.
The AFPR will not increase HP, will not improve throttle response, and does not need to be coupled with larger injectors.
You might want to add a "signature" with info like the year of your car, trans and any major mods. Not all LT1's are the same.

Re: fuel pressure regulator
the adj fuel pressure regulator is extremely easy to put on. you just need the tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the regulator. as far as it adding power, it is just temporary. as already stated, the computer will eventually adjust accordingly
