Fuel Pressure Regulator

About how long do these things last in a stock car? What causes them to fail? I've got over 110000 on my car now, could it have partially failed a long time ago?

Also do they just kind go all of a sudden bad or is it gradual....

I've never heard of one failing. FWIW, I just replaced my Aeromotive AFPR with a stock one.
