fuel pressure issue
how are all of you im having a problem which im 90 percent sure its fuel pump but i would like your opinions.everytime after about 10 min driving car 95 ta bogs hesitates stalls.let it sit for while drives fi ne for 10 min then same thing happens.finally got one code r o2 sensor lean.right away checked fuel pressure everythings fine for 10 min then pressure goes up and down sometimes to 5 psi then shoot right up .i take off fuel regulater vacuum.jumps up normal to like47.then drops to 5psi its a 2 year old walbro 255.it only acts up after about 10 mins running sound like overheating?thanks and i changed fuel filter no change.
update ran car 15 min today to get to hesitate started to buck run rough went to back of car listened to pump i heard go on and off started to squeal like a bad drive belt case closed.for those who want to know the walbro lasted 2 years and 8000 miles but was very quiet.thanks
The Walbro seems to have a questionable reliability. Maybe it just seems like there are a lot of failures because so many people are using them. I have one Bosch "208" pump that is 15 years old, another that is 10 years old, and have never had a problem with either.
Walbros did have an issue with a plastic part from a supplier (so they told me). It failed on mine, and they (sort of, I had to jump through some hoops) replaced it. Also, the Granatellis and Holleys are actually Walbros, just repackaged. If I were to do it again, I would go with a TRE Performance. Half the price, complete installation kit, and a one year warranty. Walbros have no warranty at all.
I have heard great things about the Bosch pumps also.
