fuel pressure guage question

What's that box called that you need to run a fuel pressure guage without running fuel into the car? What else do you need to run a fuel pressure guage?

Re: fuel pressure guage question

im running a hypertech fuel preasure guage. All you have to do is buy one, hook it up and turn on the car. You hook it up on the fuel rail on the right hand side of the intake looking at the car from the front. As far as a regualator goes, i bought the areomotive fuel preasure regualator. IT works great :]

You need to buy an electronic fuel pressure gauge, not a mechanical one. The electronic one comes with a fuel pressure transducer (or isolator) that connects to your fuel rail. This produces the electrical signal for the gauge. There also an electronic box that you mount in the interior to provide power, ground and the drivers to run the gauge.

Re: fuel pressure guage question

There is also a "high pressure isolator" for mechanical fuel pumps. The AutoMeter PN 5282 is an example. In theory, by filling the lines inside the passenger compartment with glycol, you can run a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. While all this sounds good, in theory, there is still a LARGE risk associated with running a mechanical gauge inside the car. I had an AutoMeter PN 5280 isolator fail and allow fuel into the lines inside the car. They recalled that one, and replace it with a PN 5281. They also had problems with that one, and discontinued it. Now the have the latest version, the 5282, and it costs over $100. By the time you buy a mechanical gauge, the braided lines and fittings and the high pressure isolator, you could have just bought an intrinsically safe electronic guage.

JMHO, but I would not recommend a mechanical gauge inside the car under any circumstances.

I would save your money like injuneer said. Better to be on the save side.
