I am removing my engine tonight to put my new one in. On the fuel lines when I disconnect them they should leak just a small amount of fuel correct? Just wanted to make sure they wouldnt pour gas out. Thanks guys

 

Remove your gas cap for a second to releive pressure and place some shop towels under the fuel lines. The amount that will come out can vary, but definetely not a lot. Also, while the engine is removed keep the fuel lines facing up because more gas might leak.

Try to let the car set as long as possible to let as much fuel bleed back as possible. Open the gas tank nozzle to relieve pressure, and then take a good size rag, wrap it around the shrader bleed off valve and press on the needle, use the rag to catch the leaking fuel. And to answer your question, yes, some, but not like a fire hose heh.

 

How do you get the fittings off? Where is the bleeding valve

 

There is no bleed valve. You need a fuel line disconnect tool to take them off. You CAN take them out with a flathead screwdriver, but it will be a pain.

 

The schrader valve on the back of your fuel rail ('95) can be used as a bleed valve. Put a rag under it, unscrew the cap and press the center post to bleed (just like a tire valve).

 

Ok how do you go about using a flat head screwdriver? I have no earthly idea how these come off

 

You'll need the GM fuel line disconnect tool, a screwdriver can really mess them up.

O reillies or any parts store should have them. Remember to get both GM sizes since the pressure is one side and the return is another.

 

Are they very expensive?

 

You can get a set of 5 or 6 plastic fuel line disonnect tools for anywhere from $6-10.
