fuel delivery problem?..or is it mr.optispark?
i just recemtly traded my 1989 ford mustang g.t. even from a friend for this 1994 pontiac firebird formula with a 6 speed(he must have been on some kind of strong medication..).
car is great to drive but, being dumb..he used to put moth ***** in the gas to boost octane instead of just buying race gas or a race gas concentrate.the car has a high rpm stutter at about..5200 rpms..still wants to rev..if i put some kind of fuel system cleaner in it,it runs great, changed the fuel filter, did a professional cleaning on the injectors..new tps, vortech elbow..tps air foil..msd wires.without a fuel system cleaner..any kind it breaks up..with el cheapo fuel system cleaner it runs great...should i drop the tank and clean the sock on the fuel pump? any suggestions please let me know.but it definatly dont feel like a bad optispark...please reply with some news guys thanks
out!

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel valve on your injector rail. I believe the 94's and up had the fuel valve on the back side of the intake. Its either there or on the side of your fuel rail on the drivers side. Hook it up... tape the gauge to your window and go for a drive. If u get on it and see that fuel pressure go eratic at 5200 rpms then u know its a fuel related problem.
Usually optis work fine the when they are on the cold side but after 15 minutes of warming up they start missing... and it happens at all rpms.
If u see its not a fuel problem the only other things it could be is a bad plug, opti or arching wire.
A bad plug would always go in the same pattern of misses.
Turn off the lights and look in your engine bay to see if one of the plug wires is arching electricity.
Also check the weep hole right underneath your water pump.. if u feel some fluid there then its been dripping on your opti spark and theres a good chance specially on the 94 non vented opti spark that its killing it.

been a bit since i posted but,i have yet to get a gauge on it but i cleaned the tb out and a black river of crap flowed out and it has ran great since...even though it has the original 1994 opticrap in it..hopefully that was the problem....well see in the next few days if it comes back
