Flywheel balancing question
Flywheel balancing question
I broke my clutch, 2 of the rivets on metal piece of the disk that holds the springs in place poped out, all the springs came out, and part of the metal piece ripped off. I pulled over and parked the carwithin 300 feet from when I noticed something was wrong. Had the car towed yada yada, pulled everything off. I started the engine w/ just the flyweel on and notced a vibration that was never there before, I assume its out of balance because the PP was not on. Now my question is, with my new street twin coming in the mail, should I have It neutrally balanced, just throw it right on, or what? I dont think I can have it matched to the old assembly because of all the broken parts throwing off the balance to that.
My assumtion (might be stupid) is that the engine was balanced, then the flywheel and acc were balanced neutrally then put on when It was rebulit to a 383. I talked to the previous owner that had this work done and he *thinks* im correct. So Im thinking just have It neutrally balanced then put it on.
Anyway to check it before it throw it all together so I dont have to take it all apart after its done? I would really like to avoid doing this twice because im working in my driveway w/o a lift
