flushing the radiator and cooling system

I want to flush the system in my car and had a few concerns. I have a 96 formula and I know it is time for a cleaning. I just bought a new low coolant sensor and installed it, will a flush kit harm it in any way? Do I need to remove the thermostat? I know it will just take it a little longer to start flowing with it in, but will it harm the thermostat? Is there anything else to be concerned about when doing this?

Thanks,
Aron
