Re: First scan today

Just an update, I haven't forgot about this. It gets on my nerves to have people post a question then never follow thru with the result. But anyway, its been raining constantly here and haven't been able to do a scan. I did a WOT shift from 1st to 2nd one time on a wet road and needless to say it wasn't fun. The rearend tried to get in front of the nose. Its supposed to be high 50s and sunny this weekend , finally, so I should be posting the new scan then.

Re: First scan today

To review the second data log, all I really had to do was copy and paste my review of the first log, and tweak a few of the numbers. It is still running extremely lean at WOT.

-Knock retard 7.25* when you hit the throttle, because it's running very lean. As the PCM sees that increasing the short term fuel trims in PE mode does not prevent the engine from running lean, it keeps ratcheting up the knock counts, which invokes the retard to prevent damage to the engine.

-Long Term Fuel Trims (LTFT) - Adding a large amount of fuel in just about every cell. Left side seems worse than the right side at low engine loads, and at high loads both sides are at or near 160.

-Very lean in power enrichment mode - This is where you open the throttle, and the PCM switches to a richer target A/F mixture to make HP and torque. Yours goes DEAD LEAN. The Cell 15 LTFT's are 160L/160R, and the PCM is bumping up the Short Term Fuel Trims (STFT) to 203/202 to try and correct the extreme lean condition, meaning the LTFT's are adding 25% extra fuel, and the STFT's are adding even more for a total of just about 100% more fuel than the PCM would normally calculate. The injector pulse widths are 28.8 milliseconds at 5,391 RPM (22.3 milliseconds available) meaning they are open 100% of the time (130% duty cycle, which is impossible), and still not able to supply all the fuel required.

You have to address the fuel shortfall.

One odd item, fan relay #1 activated at 199*F, even though the engine had exceeded or been at that temperature for quite a while before the fan turned on. Not sure why this would happen. But that is a minor concern, if any concern at all.

Re: First scan today

I will do the fuel pressure test this weekend and let you know the results. Street races at the dragway are starting end of March and I want to be ready to get some track time. Thanks again for the info.
