First modifications?

Trying to get an idea of what the most effective first mods would be. The car is stock as it sits, anyones personal experience with this would be helpful.

Feel free to suggest other options but keep in mind I only have about $1500 to spend this summer.

You haven't really said what the purpose of the car is. Drag? Street? Autox? I responded in the poll with the assumption you want to drag race.

I'll be driving the car back and forth to school and around town of course, but I would like some good times at the track.

i'd agree with your first option if you add one small thing...a good cold air kit.

basically you want to increase air in (cai) and increase air out...headers/catback. since you said you'd be driving it to work these mods will also help you out on gas milage. 2+ mpg is posible with the efficiency gained from intake and full exhaust. and you'll get a nice power gian from those. since it's an auto, you'll also enjoy the higher stall converter (i'd look into a tranny cooler too as to keep your a4 content).

the good thing is taht these will be the foundation for further mods that you listed...ie..heads/cam...
