Fire from the coil, No fire to the plugs HELP
I have a 94 Formula. I t has been running fine, no sign of any trouble. Starts with just a bump of the ignition. I pulled the battery out to put in my boat over the weekend because the battery in the boat was dead and didnt want to go to the parts store. I had just driven the car about 12 miles 5 minutes before I pulled the battery. Today I put the battery back in the car and it wont start. It has fuel. No blown fuses. It is putting fire out from the coil but no fire to the plugs.I replaced the cover and rotor to the opti about 25k miles ago to the vented version while changing wires and plugs.I was unable to get underneath the car. I am going to have to pull it in the shop so I can jack it up, but does anyone have an idea what it could be.

Check the battery connections again...since that's what you messed with last. Poor connections happen alot and are easily overlooked. You might be seeing some spark at the coil, but not enough.

Make sure the coil wire clicks when you plug it into the opti or at least its in right all the way.
Otherwise I would guess rotor as well.

I was testing with a multimeter. The coil is putting out the correct voltage and wires are good. Got the car in my shop and jacked her up. No fire out of opti and connections are good. My guess is the rotor also right now. Its just strange it gave no signs of any trouble before I shut the engine off, and then not fire when I go back to start it. Is the MSD unit the best choice. I see JEGS is selling those now? I may as well replace the opti and an electric water pump while I'm at it

I've seen some post that said the MSD opti cap and rotor is NOT out yet......I don't know if it's true but that's what I've seen. I would get a new opti from Dal if I were you. (that's what I did ) New GM opti's have a warranty................something you WILL want.
