Not too shabby at all! I think I have about the same goals in mind as you. I want to make as close to 400 rwhp as possible without sacrificing drivability/reliability. As of right now, I've got stock heads on my 383 with a 227/232 cam. I'm still trying to decide on a head/cam combo but I've got plenty of time to make a decision seeing as how I have no $$. If you don't mind me asking, what are the specs on your cam? I saw Lloyd said 220's, if so then maybe I won't need a bigger cam after all. Guess it depends on the heads I go with, eh? What do those LE1's flow anyway? Also, have you checked your gas milage at all? Just curious as to how fuel efficient that setup is.

Ported blower, 4lb lower pulley, phelonic spacer, shift kit, custom tune, cai

Under $1400 in mods....

The instant you mash it you got 500+ rwtq and it does not drop much.

I'm sure the torque must feel great in that car. Another thumbs up for Lloyd's packages. I can't wait to get the 383 in the Monte finished. Heck, I'm even thinking about swapping out my 218/230 cam for one of Lloyd's cams.

I don't want to reveal all Lloyd's proprietary information, but if you check out his website, you'll see his power estimates for the different head/cam packages. I'd say his advertised numbers are conservative. It's more than just the cam by itself. When I talked to Lloyd about doing a LE1 383, he worked with Bret Bauer to design a cam/spring setup that would work with his ported heads, and he even called Chad Golen to ask about the short block that he was building for me. He put in a lot of effort to make sure it all performed well together. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Dam good numbers. I'm suprised how well that cam works on a 383. I always consider that cam the red headed step child because it's not really a big numbers cam (no 400+rwhp) but it really should perform on the street and track since it just makes lots and lots of TQ.

To me, the torque is incredible. Considering that I have a new set of MT ET Street Drag Radials, when I nail it in 1st gear from around 3000 RPM, the front jumps up and the car just leaps forward, and I can feel the rear just barely breaking traction . Not that it matters, but someone asked about the gas milage. I didn't actually check it, but when I was ******* it around for 400 miles just to break in the new clutch, it seemed to get about the same milage as I got when I had the Hot Cam. This is the perfect street package, what a fun car to drive! Good job on the cam, Bret

Re: Finally got my new 383 setup on the dyno

There is a stroker for ya folks. I made 383rwhp/353rwtq with heads and cam...but this car would probably trap 5mph more then mine did due to the insane torque! Nice #'s. BTW, I trapped 114mph wit only 368rwhp/336rwtq (tune wasnt even close compared to the 383rwhp/353rwtq #'s).

A4 would be insane w/ that torque and a good converter...
