The final question before I click "purchase" on my new rotating assembly

Am I going over board buying:

4340 rods
cast crank

and the big question, im going forged over hypereutectic pistons. I was told I may be going over kill on the pistons since im running straight N/A and that the forged pistons will be heavier. Im going to be building a 383 with LE1 heads and a gm846 cam (I don't want to rev too high, problably shift at 5800-6000rpm). What I do want is something that will be bullet proof which is why im opting for forged pistons over the hypereuctectics. Perhaps someone else who went throuhg this dilemma can give me a hand as im ordering very soon. Thanks.

I went through the same delima and went with Hypers. They are more fragile to tuning and cant take the bottle as well. I just found a killer deal with the hypers.

I say if you are looking for bulit proof then go with the forged.. Besides, what if you want to mod it more later, like throwing n2o or boost at it? Nobody that I know that has done mods to a car stopped at any point and said "OK that's good enouigh"!!!

I thought the saem but the sealed power forged are only $75 more for the set. Im not really worried as far as cost, but as far as what I need it for. I don't know if there are any down sides to running forged on a motor that doesn't really "need" them and just trying to figure this out before I pull the old "woulda, coulda, shoulda." Know what I mean?

I went with forged pistons, h-beams,& crank on my 383. If your going to do it, might as well do it right. I am running NA right now, but I am sure that within a couple of years I will want more, so I just did it right the first time

Go with the forged, you won,t regret it.
I have a direct port fogger nitrous setup I just bought so that is going to dictate my bottom end choices but since cost is not a factor (the single biggest reason not to go forged) then do it right the first time and you will have some head room later on down the road if the urge to put even more power down hits you.
