Few questions for Heads/Cam setup
Few questions for Heads/Cam setup
First, what are the stock 1994 lt1 injectors 22lb or 26lb? Will they work with a 230/236 cam? What is the stock TB and will it suffice for a 370-390 rwhp setup? Porting heads.....what flow numbers should I expect on intake and exhaust? Having heads done by local shop....guy really seems to know his stuff.....he will flow the heads also upon completing. Thanks for any info
Stock injectors for the b-body LT1 were 24lbs and I see no reason the f-body would have gotten different. A high reving cam like that will need bigger injectors, the higher you rev the less time there is for the injector to deliver the fuel. At that power the stock TB will have become a restriction, it is dual 48mm, there are places that will bore it to 52mm which should do nicely, I plan to use a guy in IL who also put bearing on the shaft to eliminate wear and vacuum leaks there. I will try to find his info and post it.
The stock 24lb injectors will be fine with a cam and bolt on's. If you toss heads in the mix, I'd round up some 30lb squirts.
The stock TB may or may not support that, no back to back dyno testing has been posted that I'm aware of. I'd get a 52mm ported stocker, personally (and did).
Heads and flow numbers. That's a can of worms.. but if you do some searches on heads, you'll come up with the info you're looking for.

24lb injectors are stock, 30's would probably be a good idea.
Stock TB will be ok, but if you have the money, its not gonna hurt you to upgrade.
As far as the heads "knowing his stuff has nothing to do with porting skills." I "know my stuff" but I bet I couldn't port a head to get 270/200 cfm, advanced induction or lloyd elliot should be your choices

dkoldos@ameritech.net is the guy I plan to use, the Vette guys love his work!
I really think the stock TB will be a restriction, Impala guys have found that to be the case with ported heads and the MUCH smaller 845 cam. If you want to try to save a buck you could do the cam and all and just see how much vacuum it has at WOT after, if it is more than about 1.5" then you could use the bigger TB.
As for the fuel pump get a Walbro, you would really be pushing the limits of a stock pump.

Hey Mark its Mike, I talked to ur brother in law about ur head porting situation the other day.. My opinion is to go to Jan-Cen Automotive where i work, they have the fastest heads on a door slammer in the world right now (see Mike Janis), I talked to the guyz and got a price for you on them, it can't be much than BRK will be charging you and i guarantee u'll see bigger numbers, email me or call talk to you next time i come over about it, all i'm saying is that BRK may be a little cheaper but they're not proven, Jan-Cen's are definately proven heads, they just did an LS1 for some guyz street rod a couple weeks ago, turned out awesome.. Just my .02, i'd rather get more for my money..
Mike, I have been talking with BRk and he is hooking me up. The guy knows his **** and he will flow my heads....and I am going with a custom ground cam. Call me and we will talk...
