a few questions
a few questions
Hi there,
I'm new to the forums and have a few different questions
I have a 96Z28 LT1 auto coupe(hard top) stock (no mods nothing changed)
-engine heat:
what is the nornal engine heat degree?? my thermometer is most of the time around half or less but sometimes when I'm stuck in traffic it will be above the half with AC working all the time (I'm from UAE) but when I begin to drive +120Km/h it will be less than half ,the fans are working well ,it this normal?? but when I switch off the AC it's always above half / I changed the thermostat already
-is it possible to transform it to a T top?
-my card was imported from Japan and it comes with one exhaust only with a big box at the beginning of it(I don't know the name) which they told me reduces engine power and for pollution preventing ,is that right?? will I gain extra HP if I removed that piece and made it double exhaust?
-fuel and comsuption
I always use 98 octane (full tank runs around 250 KM),is it good for the car or shall I use 95(full tank runs 190 KM)? is the comsuption normal?
-how can I check how much HP is the engine really producing?it should be 285 HP but seems lesser to me
-air filter
in what ways it is better for the engine if I installed performace air filter? what else can I install for better performace?
-speed:
when I drive at high speeds +200 KM/H the card starts shaking,is this normal or do I need to change anything?
what is the max speed?? I mean can I go faster than 240 KM/H?
-is there any minor mods I can do to get extra HP?
is it true that installing too muc mods affects the engine life?
-from where can I get owner's manual?? I checked with Chevrolet here they told me it's an old model and no manuals available
I always wondered where the name CAMARO comes from, what does it mean?do you guys have any idea about it?
thaaaaaanks on advance

Re: a few questions
1. Engine temp sounds normal.
2. Yes, you can convert to t-tops, do a search.
3. It's called a catalytic converter, if you change the entire exhaust to a more free flowing exhaust, there is good hp improvements.
4. I would think in UAE, the 95 octane is good.
5. A dyno will tell you the hp your making.
6. A performance airfilter will allow more airflow = more hp.
7. Car shaking at high speeds, get an alignment and or tire balance, have the suspension checked out.
8. Max speed? Depends on the options your car has.
9. Tons of mods for extra hp. Do a search.
10. Owner's manual are not very useful. Look for a Haynes repair manual.
11. Camaro name comes from?
Indian word meaning "Fill this Fu^ker up, again". J/K
