Questions from my Dad... 94 Z28 vert

I think she's nearing 100,000 miles and never had full tuneup...

My Dad would like suggestions on plugs and plugwires to use on the car...

I am thinking LT4 plug wires, but have NO clue on what spark plugs to suggest.

What else would you guys do on a 100,000 mile LT1 tuneup and maybe a slight upgrade or two?

LT4 knock module?
PCV?
Fuel filter?

Car will be mine one day so don't hesitate to help my Dad out with suggestions!

The vehicle has done well with OEM parts, why change now. Stick with what's proven. They're are other places to get them however like gmpartsdirect.com or from Dal.

Plugs are described on the sticker under the hood.

Clean the EGR and replace the gasket.
Clean the throttle body and replace the gasket.
Clean the IAC port and pintle.
Clean the MAF.
Check snorkel for tears and the like.
Replace the fuel filter.
Replace the plugs wires and the opti.
Replace the water pump w/gaskets since you have to take it off to get the opti off.
Completely flush the cooling system as well as the heater core and check for leaks at the heater core hose crimps.
Replace the upper and lower radiator hoses.
Replace the thermostat and O ring.
Replace the belt and tensioner.
Replace the O2's.
Check all vacuum lines for cracks or leaking.
Rent an exhaust back pressure gage and test at O2 bung or replace the cat.
If you can, run some Seafoam through the intake when and if you have the O2's and the cat removed only.
Replace the throttle position sensor.
Flush and refill the power steering resevoir.
Service the tranny with fluid and a new filter. DON'T DO the flush thing.
Completely bleed all the old fluid from the break system with new fluid.
Change the differential fluid.

Oh yeah, clean the ashtrays and vacuum the carpet.

That covers it I think.

i would leave the opti and water pump untill they start giving you trouble no point in fixing what is not broke. The rest of the list looked good.

Slowpoke has what needs to be done, but I would recommend another sparkplug, the NGK TR-55 it is about 1 tenth the price of the factory sparkplug, and will work fine for a long time. Do not use the O reillies Omnispark wires or the cheapie sets that Autozone and those will give you , these are the ones they give you if you just walk in and ask for wires for an application. The 8mm wires will have a hard time fitting in the stock looms so expect extra work there if you use an 8mm set (along with a dozen or so tie ties).

If you go with an 8mm set instead of the GM wires, I really like the accell extreme 9000 wires.

Good list!!! I think I agree on leaving the OPTI until she blows... but if the water pump goes the OPTI will likely be replaced at that time.

I guess I forgot to mention that the car is a M6 and has already had the clutch and the likes replaced.

I have heard the suggestion about the NGK plugs before, but I think I hear T66 or something, that was from an Impala guy though so hmmmm....

Well my Dad said he didn't care what it cost... lol

I hope he meant it...

Have you ever seen the back of an optical distributor? You know the little bearing? Do you know what drives the opti? The cam shaft. What do you think will happen when the bearing seizes? The first thing we tend to see is first a BIG back fire. Then major work. My advise is change it before it's a larger major problem than it is now.

The T66 is for the Impala's Iron heads, the LT1 in the F-bodies have aluminum heads and a longer threaded body. (different heat range as well)
