Few problems on 93Z28
I bought my car May of 2002 from a friend who gave me a good deal. He was the second owner only driving it for 19 months putting 1200 miles on the new tires he bought for it. The only other thing he had replaced was the water pump. There was also a check engine light which I wasn't afraid of. I got it with 93000 miles and some change. The two major problems were that it needed rear brakes and air bags. The person berfore him had a small front fender bender and only fixed the front clip. The air bags were pushed and cut out of the way. So without checking I purchased a set of air bags off of ebay not knowing the dash was broke. So later I purchased everything in one shot off of ebay. I changed the dash and two sensors (one under the hood and one under the console) but when I went to change the computer it was larger than my old one. So now the air bags are disconnected and I have the air bag light. The check engine light coded out to a possible evaporate cannister. So I have that light. And my right turn signal light is on Not because of a burnt bulb but something to do with the wiring because the battery was leaking. Possibly a ground. Also my switch for my air selection only blows out of the defroster. First, can I use my old cpu and if so how do I test everything so the bags don't blow on me?Second, if the bags are all plugged in will that light go out or will I have to have something reset? Third, the cannister is suppose to be under the right wheel well, right? And last, the switch is vacuum controlled so is it the switch or something else I can check? I know I can fix this stuff it's just the Haynes manual doesn't tell you everything. All it tells you is to have a dealer look at it and have them charge you a arm and a leg. Hey I don't make a lot of money like the rest of you guys!!
You will have a much better chance of getting responses on the correct forum for your specific vehicle... in this case "LT1 Tech".
Moving it there.
You might also want to break this down into several posts.... a short/simple question gets better responses than a huge rambling paragraph with multiple problems all mixed together.
