A few heads/cam engine teardown pics..
Was suprised to see the engine looked so great on the inside at 90k miles. You can still see the crosshatching
Place my order with Lloyd this week so I started to get things ready.

The built up oil you see in the pics is where i sprayed down some wd40 to keep out any possible rust buildup while things are open. I sopped it up and stuffed the cylinders with clean blue shop towels. How clean do you have to keep everything? I picked out any grime/dirt that fell in (it wasn't much) when we pulled the heads off and blew the cylinders clean but I'm sure it won't ever all come out.

Looking for mid 11's as the car sits with the new heads/cam, pushing for lower 11's when I mess with my suspension.

glad everything went well with the tear down. got it done pretty quick considering we spent most of the time messing around with the air gun. pretty clean to since we delt with the coolant the night before. cant wait to see it when its done though.
Re: A few heads/cam engine teardown pics..
I was in the same spot you are about a month ago. A bunch of dirt managed to fall in my cylinders when the heads came off and i didn't feel comfortable just blowing it out and hoping nothing happens, especially after hearing all the spun bearing stories after cam swaps. So I opted for a new shortblock after pricing simple rebuilds at local shops. Anyway, good luck with the build up and keep us updated on how the LE heads work for you.

i used a shop vac to suck up any stuff that got in my lifter valley when I did my cam swap. Looks good man, have fun with the front cover gasket, I had a blast...

I didn't get much dirt at all in there.... thanks for the shopvac idea, I'll bust that out tonight or tomorrow and clean some more out and recoat the walls with fresh motor oil.
