Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator (not in the reservoir)?

What temperature is it running at? The first fan (or low speed - what year is your car?) fan comes on at 226*F and the 2nd fan (or high speed) at 235*F.

Does at least one fan work when you turn on the A/C?

Yeah I don't think I've ever heard my fans run since the 160* stat. Of course the guage never reads over 185* either. I really couldn't tell ya if they still work

Re: fans not cycling on!!! 95 lt1

In my 94Z the temp always used to run about in the middle of the 1/4 and 1/2 increments. My opti died and I changed out that along with the waterpump. Since then, the car will regularly go over the 1/2 increment if I sit with the car running. The fans come on at the correct temperature but the first time this happened I thought there was a problem. I started trying to figure out what the heck was wrong and why my fans weren't coming on but would shut the car off after it got to a fuzz over the 1/2 increment. After not being able to find anything wrong I looked in my book to see when they were supposed to come on... 226 the book said. Let the car run for a while and sure enough, fan came on at 226 and cooled the car back down. The confusing part now is why did the car not ever go over 1/2 (220 I believe) for the first couple years I had it and now does all the time???

well my radiator is full with coolant, and i dont have ac my compressor is not connected, i put a 12v source to each fan motor and they work, the gauage gets to about 3/4 of the way full then i turn the car off, i changed out both temp sensors with new ones from auto zone,i checked all my fuses and relays
what else is next ?? could it be the coolant level sensor the light is on saying low coolant but my radiator is full!!!! 1995 lt1 obd 1

Re: fans not cycling on!!! 95 lt1

The coolant level sensor is only attached to the light on the dash. You can turn it off by unplugging the sensor connector. You might want to try cleaning the sensor to see if it helps. The coolant light is not causing the fans not to work.

Did you connect the 12V source directly to the fans, or through the relays? Did you try swapping out the relays in the under hood box? Did you scan it for codes - there are codes for the fan circuits?

I have the same problem. My fans will not turn on unless i jumper the 5 and 6 pin on the diagnosis port. The thermostat works, Ive replaced both coolant temp sensors, switched relays, checked fuses. Im really lost as to why they wont turn on. This is really getting annoying. Please help

You already have a separate thread for your fan problem that has a lot more information in it. No sense in hijacking an old thread, too.

What's your point? You got all the answers you needed on the other thread, basically ignored the suggestion that everyone made that you scan and verify the coolant temp sensor readings in the PCM, then dredged up an old thread and tried to start it all over again. I guess you got lucky when it "fixed itself somehow"

Not the way to get help, and a good way to get the really knowledgable people around here, like Shoebox, to ignore your requests for help in the future.
