Not unless you consider...

-wear on the fan motors that they would otherwise not have.
-wear on the alternator (because the amount of amps it takes to run both fans is pretty much more than anything else on a stock car).
-HP needed to create those amps generated (that generated power is not free)
-lack of proper heat in the engine when it is very cold out and you run a 160° thermostat, which creates inefficient combustion that could lead to poor performance. Plus not being able to burn off acidic gases that form in the crankcase and condense (you don't want that in your oil).

Now, convince me there is no waste.

I just don't see any good reason for the fans to be on all the time, when you can add a simple switch (or do programming) to have them on when you need them.

"Just askin" what? Why people ice down the intake manifold at the track?
