Re: fan relay bypass?

With the fans back in stock configuration, do they come on when you jump the DLC to retrieve trouble codes?

Thanks 93z, did they tell you how much it cost including labor? or can we just buy outside. my ignition key has this key chip that I do not know if we need the dealer to calibrate every component?

Shoebox- no they do not.

Jcatelo-i wouldn't go straight to a shop its probably an easy fix just hard to trace down the problem. As far as pricing idk it probably depends where you take it

Re: fan relay bypass?

I think when I originally did it, I wired the dark green and dark blue wires at the fuse box to one side of a double pole switch and the other side to ground. So when you throw the switch, the relay coils get the ground and the fans turn on. Otherwise the switch is open and the computer controls the fans.

Re: fan relay bypass?

You need to take a schematic and prove where the trouble is. You need to see if the ECM is putting out a ground to the fans when the fans are commanded on. Don't assume anything is wrong until you prove it is.

Do not use a test light when testing anything towards the computer. You need a multimeter with at least 10 megohm impedance (most digital meters meet this requirement).

Re: fan relay bypass?

Ok then I guess just warm the car up till the fans should be running and check it with that? I really don't know anything on this subject
