How long will a LT1 run in open loop or closed loop with no 02 sensors when cold?

Put together the car and didn't install the 02 sensors for the Long tubes on my 97LT1 but runs perfect and smooth, oddly. Going to sell the car in a few days but what would happen after a few mins if the buyer wants to drive it for a long period of time? It has open headers and my friend didn't hook up anything up to the aluminum intake elbow like the MAF and the little thing blue thing that I gotta drill a hole into the metal.

If your wondering I'm not cheap just broke and don't really want to spend any more money for extended 02 sensors for the car and just let the buyer buy the small crap.

sounds like u made up your mind, if it breaks it breaks, and then fix it or have the buyer do it. it wont kill the car , it just most likely will run bad, and not perform hardly like it should, and sound crappy bc of an exhaust leak............... wires like 2 bucks, electric tape 99cents use the stock 02 sensors and make youre own extensions. you seem EXTREMELY worried about this so u might as well fix it ---or forget it

You'll pay a lot more in gas than to just fix it since it'll default to open loop and run richer.

I would make sure the buyer knows this information beforehand, wouldn't want to mislead them and have them coming back to your doorstep when they see sensors and wires hanging around unplugged and looking to a shotty job.

So the MAF isn't on the intake at all or just unplugged? What blue thing, the opti vac line? Probably not a good idea to run without both of those...not much work to just get them in and hooked up correctly.

With no O2 sensors the PCM will stay in Open Loop mode. Also the forces the PCM to make no Fuel Trim adjustments so the PCM will be using the factory default values as it has no feedback values for adjusting the trims.

As far as the intake elbow goes, you probably have the MAF installed, what your probably seeing is the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor a little 2 wire part. The blue elbow is the air supply line for the Opti spark, its very important that its installed and that the vacuum return from the Opti spark is hooked up to the intake manifold.

Re: How long will a LT1 run in open loop or closed loop with no 02 sensors when cold?

I'm not driving it from his house to mine. I went around the block and it runs amazing. I am getting it towed to my house then I will hook up the rest. My friend just wanted it out asap. I don't have the sensors because the mechanic a year ago stole most of the parts off my car and ended up going to jail. I am broke because business is slow right now and I am almost done paying for my Exmark mower. I have two friends looking at it for only $1900 but worse comes to worse I need it out of my garage by next week because of the snow plow in the garage and the new mower. I will post on here later this week in the sale section. I really want to trade for a streetbike because I miss having mine. Car is an amazing deal and very powerful.
