fan relay bypass?
 

So I have my fan switch manually wired and today while under my car I noticed only the passenger side fan is working. Now I know of a relay that can be bypassed to cause both fans at full speed all the time. How is this relay bypassed? Pics are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced - nintythreeZ28

The way I did it was I spliced into a wire at the ECM. Then ran it through a switch and grounded it. When the switch is off, the fans work just like normal from the ECM. When on they wire is grounded and both fans come on. I mounted the small micro toggle switch I bought from radio shack in my ashtray. I'll see if I can find where I got the info from.

sorry about the late reply. now here is where i get confused. the switch was already ran when i got the car and i can tell this is not good just by the looks. its a toggle switch with a wire jammed into the relay in teh pannel under the hood. it is throwing a code for QDM1 ( quad driver module 1) this is due to there being no relay. i went to the auto parts store and bought a relay unplugged the fan and plugged the relay in no fans came on and still a SES light is on. i bought a SLP fan override switch that is a direct fit into the wire harness and still with a relay plugged in i have had no luck with my fan. is there anyway my ECM/PCM is bad?

The fan relays would be QDM #3.

maybe that was it i cant remember i havent messed with it in a while... but i will try to post some pics of the current setup that i know can not be good

ok how the hell do you post pics?? no im not 95 years old with huge glasses shouting damn internet machine!!! im 19 and what some would call a "hoosier" i just cant figure this out!

well thats one way. but back on topic. the fan switch runs directly from the switch right under the ciggerrette lighter to this fuse box. there should be a relay there. sorry again about the picture inconvience

Hello, I have the same problem and did elimination, change thermostat, water pump, radiator and still overheating. I did a bypass and hot wire the "ECM walla" the fan turn on. do I need a new ECM. please advise. I am just a novice and love my 5.7 96 Camaro. Please help, thxs

ya i was told by a shop that im going to need a new ECM i just dont see how this can be if there was no cutting/splicing of wires or anything. i tried putting the relay back in the correct position and the fans still did not turn on
