False Knock Retard Issues
False Knock Retard Issues
Hey guys,
My car seems to have, and seems to always have had false knock retard issues. I have owned it since it had 88000 miles (now has 107000) and it has always had an issue with false knock retard.
The car will pull 2-7 degrees at any moderate to higher load. It is tempermental!
Sometimes if will start and run without any issues, other times it will have the issues from startup. Also, it seems to get worse after a WOT blast.
Also, it seems that if I drive the car for about 30-40 minutes that all false knock retard goes away.
I was just wondering if these symptoms sound like a specific problem that anyone has encountered or what the heck might be going on.
I have checked all over, I have nothing rattling or banging. My valvetrain sounds completely normal. I really don't know what could be causing it, especially since it comes and goes. Also, the car has new plugs and wires and I have tried 100 octane to make sure that it is false knock.
Could it be because I run plugs that are 1 heat range colder than stock? (NGK TR6)
Let me know if you can help me figure this out!
Thanks,
Eric
