I think Derrick Redd is the guy with the video's name on the board. Just do a search and click the link in his profile, you'll like it.

I just got a Mac ORP and Hooker catback on my car, it's loud and sounds good, you can barely hear it cruising down the road, but when you put the pedal down it makes noise. Not to mention, Hooker is one of the better free flowing catbacks, especially for the price.

Borla makes a system pt#01-14464 that has a plate that you can change out for different levels on sound/flow. There are four of em actually. With the solid plate, the exhaust flows fully through the muffler and a completely open plate where the exhaust bypasses the muffler. I like this system because you can open it up and then when you get tired of listening to it (which you will) you can put the solid or more restrictive plate in.

Yours is quite because it all runs through the muffler obviously. If you could find a decent muffler shop they could fix your Borla to be a flanged setup like the newer model and run it open Borla with no restrictor plate. I have Jethot 1-3/4 lts, 3" ypipe no cats, and Open Borla and it is UN-FREAKIN REAL!!! A cutout would definitely be cheaper though for you. But a cutout before the axle on an existing Borla that has the restrictor plate option is almost a waste. The reason it's a waste is on a Bolra setup is because the extra approx 3 foot of Borla exhaust with no plates or "open Borla" is just as unrestricting as the pre-axle cutout and just about as loud, maybe a little quieter. In Open Borla mode the exhaust passes through the passenger side pipe and very little exits through the Borla muffler.

sheesh dude you have a hotcam (very mild) and PnP heads and your running 13.2???? Man you should be in the high 12's. I'm not raggin on your ride I just see some of these mods and wonder why some run so differently than others with less on our fbody's. I'm running just a tad above you on ET and do not have cam/heads. Again I'm not flaming but on the contrary love doing the analysis of comparing what mods produce what on our cars. I have Jethot LT's, 3" y no cats, open Borla, Moroso CAI and ud pulley and nitto drags running very low 13's. I'm almost ready to to do heads and a cam after 3 months of research into the best combination. I get 4:10 gears next Saturday and everyone tells me I'm going to love the results so I can't wait. Oh yeah I'm in the Houston area so we pretty much have the same humidity and temps. How many miles on your engine?

well just adding my experience with my setup here. I planned ahead for my future stroker motor when I did my current exhaust for my stock LT1. I did Jethot lt's, 3" y no cats and had dual Flowtec cutouts welded in about 6" after the collector flanges and it all tied to the open Borla. I ran this new setup about 3 months ago at a 1/8th mile track and my 60' I ran 2.02 with these open. Now you talk about sound mean oh it's a blast sounds incredible and is really loud, deep and sounds like a stroker (which I don't have yet lol), but fun at car shows, meets, etc. Anyway I was bummed because I already ran 2.00 without headers or ypipe and just Borla at this track. I could not put them back on that day because the cheap included gaskets from flowtec broke on removal so I ran all day long this way. Next month I ran with the cutout caps on and ran 1.9 something I forget the exact number. Point here is that I thought maybe running with open headers I was fooling the LT1 knock module and it thought I had valve train noise and retarded timing, but indeed I believe it was loss of back pressure. When I do a cam/heads on this LT1 I will have substantially more than enough pressure to run open headers and not lose anything but with the caps on I definitely gained back my needed backpressure. I agree too much open exhaust will hurt you. In my case it was too much, had I just had a cutout pre-axle I may have gained and lost nothing but I wanted my unique future stroker exhaust setup in advance.

its quiet a bit different when comparing cut out on a stock vehicle vs open headers....

I'm confident that if you could shift/stall higher you would get better et's.

but yes, open long tubes= loss of low end on stock vehicle

I ran long tubes --> 3'' Y to ---> 3'' catback and no muffler and ran .4 sec slower consistatnly. I was gainging insane MPH in the 2nd half of the track though. Had I be able to stall/shift higher i would have def gone faster imho because mph were 107+ and i was running 13.6 on 2.1 and 2.0 60 foots. There were was also a slipping trans...

maybe it was tail wind

none the less, you get my point...

yeah man that's probably identical to what happened to me. I was shifting at it's optimum rpm where I would not spin nor bog so I had the shifting down right. I realized in advance when I had the ypipe built that it was a 50/50 chance, but I had to give it a try because I had not seen anyone else with this setup (I'm sure somebody has it though) and in the future with enough HP I'll definitely not lose anything from having the dual caps off
