Question exhaust manifold studs

im in the process of removing my stock manifolds and i guess im not sure how these studs work. on my cousins car the nuts just came off and all the studs stayed in the head. is that what its like on these cars or are the nuts welded to the stud? Obviously they have to come out so im hoping they are welded. I dont have any deep well sockets so i was going to cut the end of the stud off. Bad idea?

thanks in advance, im in the middle of this project as i speak

umm, you mean the BOLTS holding the manifolds to the heads?

they should be bolts, some with a stud piece, you can cut the stud piece off if needed

Re: exhaust manifold studs

yea. those are all bolts for the stock manifolds.. they have the accessory studs on some of them, if you plan on actually putting studs in then you really shouldn't worry about cutting the stud ends off...

ok thanks thats the confirmation i was looking for. I was 98% sure, but i wanted to be 100% if screwing up means removing the head.
