You guys really came through with the right info, thanks as always!

Well, I thought I had to due to my 12.5:1 SCR, and the LE4 being the only LE cam that would get my DCR below 9.0. However, I guess I was misinformed. I emailed Bret with my concerns, and he immediately got back to me assuring me the LE3 would be fine. Fast customer service as always.

So, turns out there was some miscommunication for a little while, that's all. Not knowing the IVC makes it kinda hard to figure this out on my own.

As to why I'd run the 3.42 with the LE4 cam, well I thought it sounded like a bad idea myself, so I asked. I'm running that ratio partly because I'm trying to prolong the death of my 10 bolt and from what I've read here the 3.42 is tougher to break than the 4.10 etc. And partly so 1st gear is more useable, for less shifting when I'm caught in traffic.

Edit: Plus, I just figured RPM/MPH, and the 3.42 will take me to 120 mph in 3rd, saving me a shift vs 3.73 at 110mph.

LE3 is the best torque LE cam for my combo considering DCR, and while 3.42 may not be best for ET's, I think there will still be plenty of grunt to get my car moving satisfactorily. I'm looking for more of a mean street build with great low torque, and enough manners that I can enjoy driving it to work all summer. Once I get a decent axle I might go up a bit in ratio, depends on how this combo drives. But, my budget is pretty shot for a while, so I'm sticking with street tires (new GY F1 GS/D3's) on a 10 bolt for now. Of course if it breaks right away...

I already have a close ratio car with 1:7.xx effective axle ratio (bike engine in my homebuilt) that needs to be continually shifted, and it's a little tedious in stop&go traffic. Gotta keep the vehicle portfolio balanced.

Can't wait to get my cam and start putting my gigundous intimidating pile-o-parts back together!!!
