Evap Purge Solenoid Pluged ?
Evap Purge Solenoid Pluged ?
i have a 94 camaro z28,
i noticed yesterday that my egr solenoid was pluged with little plastic crumbs so i sucked on the hose that comes from the evap canister and i nearly threw up when i ended up with a bunch of crap in my mouth.
my question is how do i fix it ? can i delete it ?
that could explain why there is always alot of air when i take off the gas cap kind of sound's like a nitrous purge just 2 times quiter
any help is apreciated, thank you

Re: Evap Purge Solenoid Pluged ?
The EVAP system connects to the charcoal canister in the drivers rear fender. Your solenoid, and probably the line is plugged with carbon particles. You would need to replace the charcoal canister.
Your tank vent system isn't working. A plugged canister would explain part of it, but there is a pressure relief valve that should prevent too much pressure buildup. If replacing the canister doesn't solve the pressure problem, the relief valve might need to be replaced.
The system actually recovers and lets the engine burn gasoline vapor that would otherwise be vented to the rear of the car. If you delete the system, you need to make some provision for a tank vent - either a vented cap, or simply cutting the line to the canister and putting a filter sock over it. You'll probably notice an increase in fuel smell at the rear of your car.

Re: Evap Purge Solenoid Pluged ?
i think i will just fix it and not try to delete it, souds like more work.
so here is what your ( injuneer) suggesting for me to do
1. replace evap canister
2. replace evap purge solenoid , unless i could find a way to clean it
sounds pretty easy i think,
do you know if that could be cuasing my hisitation at 5-6k rpm ?
thanks on your input guys
