Evap hose crack -Emissions?
Evap hose crack -Emissions?
I found a crack in the hose that runs from the evap purge solenoid to the throttle body. The crack is at the 90 degree rubber elbow that connects to the throttle body and when i squeeze the elbow a black liquid came out (i think the hose is dirty and changed the color) anyways it smelled like gas. And i'm wondering if maybe gas is getting into the throttle body and causing me to have High Hc levels in emissions. I'm not sure how the evap's supposed to work but i dont think gas should come through that line?
The Evap system collects engine vapors (including gas vapors) to prevent them from entering the atmosphere by routing them to a charcoal canister (absorbing material). When the engine is running (specific run conditions, not all run conditions), the fumes are returned to the engine's intake track to be burned. Therefore it makes sense that this tube smells like gas.
