Re: Evap canister

I think the cables are vacumm lines. You need to see a factory service manual for can/line/selonoid connections.

Re: Evap canister

Are you talking about the vacuum canister for EVAP (in the drivers rear fender), or possibly the purge solenoid for the EVAP canister (on the passenger side of the intake, connecting via a vacuum hose to the throttel body?

Shoebox has the complete routing diagrams for the EVAP system on his website.

Re: Evap canister

thanks injuneer
thats exactly what i needed.

can you tell me what #2 is connected to? my setup is a rather strange one. I understand i have that I have a throttle bypass installed on the car, but im not sure whether or not that has anything to od with this. apparently # 5 goes connected to the throttle. I have three pipes coming from the throttle, that are all exposed. can you explain the purpose of those 3 pipes?

Re: Evap canister

What year is your engine take from? Not all years are the same, so you should include this info when you ask a question like this. Not all years are the same.

There are two vacuum connections near the back of the back of the passenger side of the intake manifold. One is for the fuel pressure regulator, the other is for the heat/cool controls.

There are two hose connections on the passenger side of the throttle body. The larger diameter upper one is for the hose that runs from the TB to the passenger side valve cover. That supplies fresh air for the PCV valve to pull through the crankcase. The smaller diameter lower vacuum connection is for the EVAP canister purge. If you have an engine from a 96/97 there will also be a flow detector switch included in the EVAP purge system.

Then there are two connections for the coolant, on the bottom plate attached to the throttle body. These are for the coolant, one on the passenger side and one on the drivers side. These are left unconnected if you have the TB bypass. You can plug them with vacuum caps or leave them open.

Go to Shoebox's website. He has photos and diagrams of virtually every one of these components, showing where they are located and what is connected to them. He also has the exploded diagrams of all the systems, so you can track down the connections. And he has a full photo of a 95 harness with all the connections labeled as to their function. You need to look at these photos and diagrams to figure out where everything goes.

Just keep in mind, each year of the LT1 is a little different, so you need to tell people what year engine, PCM and wiring harness you have, and how you did the various connections when you installed the LT1 in your RS.

well, for 5, just use a piece of rubber hose, and for 8, that is the solenoid, not the canister, and that will be a dealer or jk/yd only part
