Engine wise whats the best way to go?

I was looking at going to a lt4 with hot cam to replace my stock lt1. But i was informed theres some better ways to get more bang for the buck. It conversion was about 2.5k. For about that same price what could i do and get more power than the lt4 could give me?

383 stroker? I'm not sure what the LT4 produces but I was thinking about doin that. The only thing stopping me is cash.

I think so but I'm fairly new to the Camaro speed thing. I know that there are a few out there and the ones I've seen are pretty quick. It requires more engine work than just heads and cam.

yea some one else told me a 383 would be the way to go. I'm just trying to figure out cost to bang ratio and if there is anything else better?

Man I just hblew my motor and I'm converting to a 383. Finished taking out my motor yesterday. Taking in the block tomorrow. The money isn't only in the motor. Things you gotta do to make the 383 work is a lot too. I.E. Bigger injectors, throttle body, torque converter, rockers, cam. The big one is the tranny upgrade. 2K!! I'm doing all the work myself and looking at spending about 7K after alls said and done. The shop is just doing the machine work. The motor, just parts alone is about 2K.

Good luck just thought you should know. S.J.S.

Depends on your budget and remember the power is in the heads/cam. You can have a 355/383/396 and unless you invest a good chunk of change into your heads, you won't be seeing near what you could.

And it all depends on the route you want to go, a 355 can be built to make as much power as a larger stroker.

Invest in some LT4 castings and have someone reputable port them. And of course you'll have to have the cam to go with it....I'm assuming that emissions isn't a concern. Go with a nice solid roller setup and you can be seeing some good power.

96Z did a budget 383 and is putting over 400hp to the wheels. Talk to the folks at Bauer or cmotorsports.
